The Youth courses at the ICC are great fun; specially designed to use smaller boats and teaching structures built for younger sailors to make the most of their time – and enjoy it in safety.
The RYA certificates of the Youth Sailing Scheme are a significant achievement. Instructors sign off each skill as you complete it. Once completed, your certificate can be of use in other areas of your study or activities such as PE at school, or the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme.
Most courses are 3 days long (a minimum of 2 days), we also offer combinations of stages as a 6 day course(minimum 4 days). Sailing is a sport which gets better with practice, and you should try to sail between courses whenever you can. Practice makes perfect! After Stage 3 you can join one of our ICC progressive courses to do just this – practice and try different boats under the watchful eye of a qualified Instructor.
Following completion of the Stage 4 course you can take the advanced modules of the National Sailing Scheme. Here at the ICC we have designed our own courses, ICC Stage 5 & 6, which each include one of the RYA adult modules. These courses are especially designed for those who wish to continue learning in smaller boats at an advanced level, and build on the RYA scheme.
