Facilities

The ICC’s headquarters is a real ship - an ex Mersey Ferry called Egremont. She has been converted into the base for all our sailing activities and the every day facilities needed to make your visit as enjoyable as possible. Step off the ICC launch from Salcombe and everything you need is here, the boats, hot food, hot showers, drying room, cabins for those staying aboard and of course, the club bar.

Courtesy Launch

Our courtesy launch runs from Whitestrand Pontoon in Salcombe to Egremont at regular times between April and October - click here for the timetable.

Equipment

You won’t need specialist equipment: all appropriate safety equipment is provided free, including buoyancy aids, safety helmets and wet suits.

Onboard Egremont

  • Hot Showers - Nothing beats a hot shower after a day on the water. There are two shower and toilet blocks on the main deck for your comfort.
  • Drying Room - A must for any water based activity centre. You will find our hot drying room at the stern of Egremont big enough for all your wet clothes and wet suits. Its wonderfully hot - akin to a sauna!
  • Dining Room - Large enough to seat over 100, the dining room is a hub of activity at lunchtime and in the evening. Hot and cold drinks are freely available at all times and superb family cuisine is served up three times a day.
  • Cabins - We can take up to 50 guests on board Egremont in simple twin bunk cabin rooms, all with washbasin. Linen and duvets are provided, but please bring your own towel.
  • Pugwash Bar - The hub of the social life on board Egremont for adult members. We serve a good range of wines and spirits, draft beers as well as soft drinks. A place to relax after a busy day sailing. Normal age restrictions for licensed premises apply.
  • Upper Saloon - Our large fine saloon offers magnificent views over the Estuary, from the Bag where Egremont is moored, all the way to Kingsbridge. Social functions are held here, supported by a second bar. Schools and Cadets use the area for evening activities, while theory lectures are also often given here. With access to the upper deck you can enjoy the scenery even more!
  • Evenings

Activities are provided each evening for unaccompanied cadets ranging from indoor games to fun on the water. Adults can relax in the Pugwash Bar or catch the regular launch service ashore to Salcombe and enjoy the town or an evening stroll.
