Egremont
The Club’s floating sailing base, the converted Mersey ferry ‘Egremont’, which is permanently moored in the Salcombe Estuary is the centre of all operations. Tucked quietly away in the waters between Salcombe and Kingsbridge lies a piece of South Devon maritime history.
Egremont spent the first of its working life plying the waters between Liverpool and Birkenhead but has been a feature of Salcombe ever since. Originally built in 1952 by Philip and Son in Dartmouth, it returned to its South Hams roots in 1976 where it was refitted to provide a working base for the ICC.
At 50 years of age, it was recently merited an inclusion in the national register of historic vessels and is just a year younger than the ICC.
Egremont weighs 560 tonnes and measures 150ft in length.
The accommodation caters for up to 50 residential guests and has the capacity in the peak season to have a maximum of 80 guests sailing each day.
